Message From The President

We had another well attended meeting with about 15 members present at our August meeting. Don Matter debriefed us all on another successful - thanks to the generous efforts of so many -Fiesta.

Member Malcolm Hamilton introduced us to - and heartily endorsed - two Adult Education courses: Healing From War, an interactive sharing group; and Sharing For Veterans, cognative therapy. It was requested that the Chapter endorse these two courses. We voted unanimously to do so. Courses start at the Schott Center at 310 W. Padre Street on Thursday, September 15, at 5:00 P. M. Call Malcolm (965-5334) for more information.

In accordance with the motto “Never again will one generation of veterans forget another generation of veterans.” it was proposed and passed unanimously that the Chapter “adopt” active duty veterans that have some connection to the Chapter - sons, daughters, nieces, nephews, etcetera. If you know an active duty veteran that you would like the Chapter to adopt, please let me know so that we can get this fledging program off the ground. We would like to hear directly from these veterans - probably email - and would like to assist them if we are able.

We adjourned our meeting by 7:45. The Vance Committee held a meeting and elected William Stewart as Committee Chairman. The members assigned the highest priority to getting some publicity for the Vance Committee as we have lately had a dearth of applications.

Many of us went to dinner at Moby Dick’s for a comfortable social hour and inexpensive meal. In light of our absence last month, “Moby Al” wanted to know if we had been scared away by the tsunami warning which had cut our last dinner there short.

Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, September 13 at 6:15 P.M. . Hope to see you there.

Proudly representing and serving noble warriors with noble intentions,
Keith

The Santa Barbara Chapter of the Vietnam Veterans of America is a tax exempt, non-profit organization. Our members are Vietnam era (you need not have served "in country") Veterans and Associates (individuals from all walks of life who may or may not have served in the military). Our Chapter is successful because of the efforts of Vietnam Veterans, Vietnam Era Veterans, and Associates, all of whom are equally welcomed and prized. The Chapter’s Vance Committee distributes funds to qualified disabled American veterans.
