Message From The President

Our January meeting was very well attended. Many thanks to Jack and Cheryl Silveria for replacing all of the poles for our flags.  After the meeting, nearly a dozen of us socialized over dinner.

At our monthly meeting at the Veterans Memorial Building at 112 W. Cabrillo Boulevard at 6:15 P. M on Tuesday, February 14, we’ll have a special presentation by a representative of the Ensemble Theater in Santa Barbara. The presentation will be regarding their current production “Touch The Names”.  The play is based upon letters left behind at The Wall.  You may contact Elena Gray-Blanc of the Ensemble Theatre at 805 963-0276 for further details about the play, currently playing and running through March 5.  You may also contact members Peter Bie (259-9779) or William Stewart (962-0703) who may be able to work something out regarding assistance with the purchase of tickets, including possibly a limited number of free tickets.

Touch the Names...Feel the History

Ensemble Theatre Company of Santa Barbara Presents a West Coast

Premiere Production about the Vietnam Veterans Memorial

On Friday, February 10, 2006, Ensemble Theatre Company (ETC) of Santa Barbara is honored to announce the west coast premiere production of Touch the Names: Letters to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. The production will run through  Sunday, March 5, 2006.  Performances run Tuesday through Saturday at 8:00 PM and Sundays at 2:00 and 7:00 PM.

Touch The Names is composed of actual letters written by friends and family to the fallen soldiers memorialized on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington D.C. These remarkable letters, notes and poems are interlaced with songs performed by the composer. The director was given special permission from the U.S. National Park Service to extract these letters from the Library of Congress records and use them as the complete text of this poignant theatre piece. Six actors portray various people: fellow soldiers, sons, fathers, wives and daughters who through their tribute letters and poems speak to the courage and patriotism of many Americans in a time of war.

The Ensemble Theatre Company of Santa Barbara was founded in 1979 and housed at the intimate Alhecama Theatre located in the historic Presideo District in Downtown Santa Barbara at 914 Santa Barbara Street. ETC is Santa Barbara’s longest running, most award-winning professional resident theatre company...now in its 26th   season.

Ticket prices for Touch the Names: Letters to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial range from $25.00 to $37.00.     Discounts are offered to students, seniors, and groups of 10 or more. Single and group tickets are available through the Ensemble Theatre Box Office at (805) 962-8606.

At the meeting we may also have as a guest the fiancé of a recent Iraq casualty who may be discussing the establishment of a foundation to help returning veterans.  Hope to see you all there.  Bring your loved one – what better place to spend the Valentine’s Day evening!

Proudly representing and serving noble warriors with noble intentions,

Keith
