Message From The President

Our July meeting was well attended and productive.

Another Fiesta is behind us. Don Matter tells me that the Chapter has been doing this for 25 years. This takes a tremendous amount of work on the part of many many Chapter volunteers. Though our booth sells for only 3 ½ days, the efforts begins on the Friday afternoon preceeding the event and doesn’t conclude until the surplus product is returned a full ten days later - and there’s still the final bill paying, record keeping and banking to be accomplished. We had a successful year, grossing about in the middle of the last nine years. Details will be discussed at the August and September meetings.

Keith Perkins, Dan Oroz, Joseph Narkovitz and Rolf Brinkman represented the Chapter at the 425th welcome home picnic at Goleta Beach on July 21st.

Bill Connell (aka Hot Dog Man) has requested that he be able to address the Chapter at our next meeting. He’ll be giving us an update on his tax battle with the State. At this month’s meeting (Tuesday, August 14, 6:15 P. M. Veterans Memorial Building in Santa Barbara) we’ll also be discussing the location for this year’s Awards Banquet.

Proudly representing and serving noble warriors with noble intentions,
Keith

The Chapter meets the second Tuesday of every month at the Veterans Memorial Building at 112 W. Cabrillo Boulevard at 6:15 P. M. The meetings usually last around an hour. Several members usually go out for an informal dinner at Moby Dick’s Restaurant (or elsewhere) on the nearby wharf after the meeting.

The Santa Barbara Chapter of the Vietnam Veterans of America is a tax exempt, non-profit organization. Our members are Vietnam era (you need not have served "in country") Veterans and Associates (individuals from all walks of life who may or may not have served in the military). Our Chapter is successful because of the efforts of Vietnam Veterans, Vietnam Era Veterans, and Associates, all of whom are equally welcomed and prized. The Chapter’s Vance Committee distributes funds to qualified disabled American veterans.
